Waipu Winter festival ‘Waipu in Tartan’ – July 1st – Opening street march and performance
Celebrating the repeal of the ‘Act of Proscription’
Following the Battle of Culloden, the wearing of Tartan by Highland men and boys was banned for nearly 40 years. The ban, (called the Act of Proscription) was repealed in 1792.
We celebrate in Waipu from July 1st, with a winter festival packed full of events.
